What is this business?!

This is a small update on what's going on around the literature community, that's what this business is. The idea is to try and make the community more readily accessible for everyone, whether you're new or have been here for a while.

Please note: these updates will not be all-encompassing in terms of community happenings, as the community is quite frankly rather large. If there is something that is not included in an update that you would like to be included, please note GaioumonBatou regarding it.

New to the community? Looking for a refresher?

Here's a few starting points for the community-at-large:

:iconhq:
:pointr: hq is deviantART HQ's hub, so you'll be seeing some pretty big updates from them when things happen.

:iconcommunityrelations:
:pointr: communityrelations is the hub for the Community Relations team, which means it's a great place to watch for updates of all sorts.

The past week's Lit DDs

MoshtarakYou came in combat shorts
controlling attention
my American,
Speaking poetry to me
unintentionally
in pidgin Pashto.
I'm sure you've blown skulls
wide open with half formed words
and you frightened me
with your fearless fire.
You chased away the trouble that had
settled heavy over my shoulders and down into
every hair and pore and breath like desert dust.
You were different.
Your eyes shone with the promise
of golden gates
and red bridges to white sheets
across blue gaps and hotels and museums and forests full of God
and everything
and everything seemed possible.
I did not think you would leave me.
And it returns from the mountains, the caves,
Wherever it comes from. Whatever you call it.
Trouble. Taliban. Heartbreak. In pidgin Pashto
or any language.
I wondered where you'd gone
but then I realised -
You think you're home,
But both our homes
are static lines floating
through space and we can't
make it home without finishing
what was started, I know
a part of your head is still here, sp

"Real vampires don't sparkle," is the uniting battle-cry of the anti-Twilight series movement. Long-time fans of the vampire fantasy genre all tend to agree that vampires are blood-sucking, night-stalking, sun-fearing, semi-immortal fiends of incalculable strength and power. The drop-dead-sexy definition isn't a foreign idea either. Yet when these defining items come together in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, vampire lovers all over the world have risen up in protest. The mere mention of the series seems an affront to the vampire subject in question. After over a century's worth of exposure to Dracula-stylized vampires, the introduction of this new, different vampire has divided the literary culture.  1
In an attempt to pacify those masses that harbor distaste for Twilight and the subsequent series, here is presented a solution to the controversial issue at hand: the "vampires" in Meyer's Twilight are not vampire
Soichiro's RoarMom was a Honda girl. Always was, always would be. She spent her initial years driving a variety of shed-built Volkswagens, which would promptly have a major failure, which would promptly be dragged back home to get a motor swap. The regularity of this business got to the point where my Uncle Mike, her brother, can still pull and replace a motor in about twenty minutes, but I digress.
Somewhere along the line, Mom, or Robin at the time, needed a new car, and found herself in a Honda dealership. After approaching every vehicle with scrutiny, and likely yelling at the salesman (though she would never admit it), she bought herself the first-generation Honda Civic, a lovely black (they were almost always black) three-door with AM radio, Power Disc Brakes, and more than enough frugality with fuel to ease her own personal gas crisis.
Somewhere in that little hatch, a love affair started, that would only be foolishly interrupted once by a GMC. As time went on, so did that little Honda, to the

Give this series a name!

As you may or may not have noticed, this news article's name is...well, we'll go with "lacking in creativity". So, here's the deal: I'd like to re-name it, and I'd like your ideas to do so. In exchange, I'm putting some points up for grabs. Note me (GaioumonBatou) with a potential title, or several, if you feel so inclined.

One title will be chosen, and the person who comes up with it gets 100 points. Sound good?

That's it for this fortnight, if you've got questions or concerns, let me know!

Oh, neat. :highfive:

Anything ending in an 's' followed by 'exposed' would be quite eyecatching, methinks. (Filthy mind, woo!)
